CLRC names new executive director

May 4 2011

The Construction Labor Research Council announced last month that Carey Peters has been named the new executive director of the organization, replacing Bob Gasperow, who is retiring after 30 years of service.

“It is an honor to be selected to lead CLRC,” said Peters. “My top priorities include maintaining the Council’s position as the premier source for labor-related research and consulting services in the construction industry, expanding the scope of products and services offered, and ensuring the utmost integrity of all work performed by the organization.”

Peters, who started with CLRC in April, previously spent 14 years with the Tennessee Valley Authority, the nation’s largest public power company. While there, he conducted extensive market studies on wages/salaries and benefits, led all compensation-related negotiations with the construction trades, and implemented a wide variety of human resources initiatives. He earned his doctoral degree in industrial/organizational psychology at the University of Tennessee and has a bachelor’s degree from Taylor University.

The CLRC is a not-for-profit membership organization that provides labor-related research and consulting services to the construction industry. It serves as a resource for data on labor costs, market share, labor contract terms, safety, and associated topics. Members consist of management associations whose member firms employ union construction craft workers.
