More money for OSHA

May 14 2009

President Obama’s FY 2010 U.S. Department of Labor budget includes approximately a 10 percent boost in funding for the Department of Labor.

This budget also earmarks $564 million for the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, approximately a 10 percent increase from their FY 2009 budget and a return to staffing of FY 2001 levels.

With a large portion of stimulus money designated for infrastructure, contractors can expect to see increased OSHA activity and should be taking advantage of this down time to educate their employees of their safety policies and procedures and best practices for the industry.
