TAUC, Iron Workers Team Up To Advance Pension Reform

May 14 2014

TAUC and the Iron Workers agree on many things, including the need for quick and comprehensive reform of the current multiemployer pension system. That’s why both organizations recently penned a joint letter to Congressional leaders urging them to pass legislation that would allow the multiemployer pension plan community to address our own issues without the need for government or tax payer assistance.

At a recent Iron Workers meeting in San Antonio, TAUC President Tom Felton and Iron Workers General President Walter Wise formally signed the letter (see photo above). It was sent to all Chairmen, Ranking Members and members of the following committees:

  • U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee
  • U.S. Senate Finance Committee
  • U.S. House of Representatives Education and Workforce Committee
  • U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee

In order to help TAUC members better understand the issue – and to provide you with arguments in favor of pension reform – we reprinted the complete text of the letter in the Spring 2014 issue of our official magazine, The Construction User.
