TAUC announced in late July it has joined the National Coordinating Committee for Multiemployer Plans, (NCCMP), a broad coalition of multiemployer health and welfare plans, unions, associations and employers that represents the interests of plan participants on Capitol Hill.
“TAUC and the NCCMP’s legislative policies are aligned, especially as it relates to the enactment of composite plan legislation,” said TAUC CEO Steve Lindauer. “Our Executive Committee felt joining NCCMP would help cement our longstanding relationship and create additional synergies in getting legislation passed that is of the utmost importance to our contractor members.”
TAUC was an active member of the Retirement Security Review Commission, which was spearheaded by then-NCCMP Executive Director Randy DeFrehn (DeFrehn recently retired and was succeeded by Michael Scott, who will be a featured speaker at TAUC’s Summer Summit in Pittsburgh on August 24). The Commission released “Solutions Not Bailouts,” a “road map” document that was influential in getting multiemployer pension reform passed on Capitol Hill.
