Despite inclement weather the day before, TAUC held its annual State of the Union Construction Industry Forum on December 11 in Washington, D.C.
As previous year’s attendees can attest, the Forum combines important, up-to-date information on various regulatory, legislative, and business topics with ample time for networking, making it a must-attend event for contractors, owners, and building trades representatives.
TAUC was pleased to welcome a number of speakers, including:
Dr. Christine Branche, Principal Associate Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Director of the Office of Construction Safety and Health covered a variety of safety topics for attendees including Silica, the joint OSHA and NIOSH fall prevention campaign, the FACE (Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation) Program, and the Prevention Through Design (PtD) Program. Brian Hendrix, a Partner at Jackson Lewis LLP spoke about OSHA’s priorities for 2014 including moving forward with a new silica ruling and a continued focus on enforcement of violations. He also gave attendees several practical tips on how to prepare for an OSHA inspection and how to avoid site violations. Click here to download Mr. Hendrix’s presentation.
Jim Ray, Principal at the Law Office of James Ray, covered the muddy waters of the Affordable Care Act and how its implementation will affect multiemployer health and wellness plans.
