Tim Driscoll will be named Secretary-Treasurer of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) effective January 1, 2017, the union said in a recent press release.
Driscoll, currently BAC Executive Vice President, will take over for the retiring Henry Kramer, who has served in the Secretary-Treasurer role for seven years. Driscoll will fulfill the remainder of Kramer’s term.
BAC President James Boland remarked, “Henry has been a great partner to me and a great steward of the Union’s financial and administrative interests. On behalf of our Union, I thank Henry for his counsel and perspective on the Executive Board, and for his nearly four decades of service to BAC. We all wish him a long, healthy and happy retirement.”
Driscoll has held the position of Executive Vice President since February 2010. A second generation member, Driscoll joined BAC Local 3 Massachusetts in 1985. In 1993, he moved to the Washington, D.C. metro area and joined Local 1 Maryland/Virginia/D.C. In 1995, Driscoll joined the IU’s Government Relations department, and then as Assistant to the President. In 1999, he was promoted to the position of Director of Trade Jurisdiction.
Driscoll is recognized throughout the building trades industry for his reasoned approach to issues and ability to solve problems and get things done. Driscoll holds a BS in Economics from the University of Maryland, and is a graduate of the Harvard Trade Union Program. Said President Boland of the appointment, “Tim has excelled in every position he has held at the International Union, and I expect he will do the same as Secretary-Treasurer. I look forward to working closely together with Tim to maintain and advance our vibrant and strong Union.”
“As a labor representative for the Bricklayers in the NMAPC Program for many years, Tim has proven himself to be a hardworking champion for our industry,” said Steve Lindauer, TAUC CEO and Impartial Secretary/CEO of the NMAPC. “He’s going to do great things in his new role, and we look forward to a continued positive relationship with Tim, General President Boland and the entire Bricklayers union.”
BAC also announced that Carlos Aquin will fulfill the remainder of Driscoll’s term as an Executive Vice President.
