TAUC expresses sincere condolences to the family of James E. Cole, former Iron Workers General Secretary, who died of congestive heart failure on July 6 at the age of 77 in Vienna, Virginia.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Cole was a member of the Iron Workers for more than 59 years. Throughout his long career, he worked on the original World Trade Center as well as the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. He served in leadership roles within the Iron Workers union for many decades, eventually retiring as General Secretary of the international union. He was married to Patricia Carmody Cole for almost 50 years, and leaves behind several children and grandchildren.
