Nigro, most recently the General Secretary-Treasurer of the SMWIA, will assume his new post on July 1. He succeeds Michael Sullivan, who has served as general president of the SMWIA since 1999. Sullivan, who announced his retirement earlier this year, will continue to serve as general president emeritus.
In addition, the General Executive Council also elected Joseph Sellers, Jr. to replace Nigro as General Secretary-Treasurer. Sellers most recently served as the president and business manager for Local No. 19 in Southeastern Pennsylvania and General Vice President of the SMWIA.
TAUC congratulates both Joseph Nigro and Joseph Sellers on their new positions, and wishes Michael Sullivan all the best in his new role as general president emeritus.
