A new report by Segal, Survey of Plans’ 2012 Zone Status, found that the number of multiemployer pension plans in the red zone increased slightly from 24% in 2011 to 26% in 2012.
Plans in the yellow zone also ticked up slightly, from 13% in 2011 to 14% in 2012. The percentage of plans in the green zone decreased from 63% in 2011 to 60% in 2012.
The average PPA’06 funded percentage for the surveyed plans was 84% last year, a slight decrease compared to 2011.
